I was saddened to find out that Mrs Yaralli(nee Grant) had passed away. She taught me music and the parties at home which were hosted by Yvette and Yasmin in the late 70's and early 80's were great. She was an inspiration to us all.

Aunt Barbara was a champion til then end ... fiesty as her curry and loving as her embrace ... I too cannot remember a time that they were not on Jean St ... and during the "adult parties" when we "kids" got to be upstairs in the loft room "pretending" not to listen and watch what the adults were doing ... partying without us ...

Oh and the folks who passed those doors ... Margo, Shelly n Kim ... Des, Lynn n Tracey ... remember sitting on a bar stool next to Sir Gerald ... lawd ... and dancing ring play with Nico n Aunt Keva ... that house was a blessing ... learning to cook that curry ... watching the black birds on the wall and wondering who she would say "musse ga die soon" ...

I loved Aunt Barbara and when Des called me that nite, I cried ...

I am so happy that Roxanne turned that home into a school ... other than being a home for Yaz n Yvette ... a school is a blessed way to honor her ...

With love ...

Auntie Barbara is a part of who I now am as all my mentors including Clement and the other adults to whom I looked up in my teenage years. Mrs. Yaralli in the class became Auntie Barbara in her home. I can still smell her wonderful cuisine, hear her rich alto voice and see her smiling face on that baked ham commercial that used to play at the Shirley Street theatre. Seems like centuries ago now. When Roy died, that was the first funeral I ever recollect going to. Seems like the last chapter has been written now. We are all going to miss her terribly.
