Couple of things.

One, don’t fool yourselves. This kind of thing happens in democracies all the time, especially where (illegal) immigrants are concerned. Esteban, I don’t know what you mean by “the colour law”. I don’t think that there is any law that excuses this kind of incident. I also suspect that episodes like this occur far more often than we imagine, but we don’t hear about it because the people affected are usually voiceless. In this case, a mistake was made — the people being raided were not who they were suspected to be, and the mistake was costly, because it exposed what goes on when we’re not looking.

I’ve been in contact with the Ministry of National Security, and I don’t think that (a) the officials are unaware of this incident or (b) that it will go unpunished. An investigation is currently under way. How it is dealt with is a different matter altogether. But we shall see.
