Yes I quite agree with you Ms. Bethel, thank you for bringing this issue to mind. When I graduated High School i was often questioned 'Why Art?' Seeing that a possed an outstanding GPA, persons always pushed me into academic science or law but the point I am trying to arrive to is art is me. No matter how much people try to supress me it won't happen. For this reason I along with many other artist on February 11TH had silent demonstartion in C.O.B. Long live the arts!!!

Nico, sistren and brethren! I am with you all the way (from California) and will be sending an article to the papers to say so. I am inspired by this uprising of creative fire, of artists voices, because the truth is, in this complex dysfunction of ours, if we don't take ourselves this seriously, how will our government, churches, merchants, co-workers, next door neighbours? If we want a revolution (I heard someone sometime ago say) then it is us who have to bring it... so, I stand in solidarity with you, all the way...

Thanks to all!

There is a meeting tonight to begin to plan how we move forward from this. Day of Absence is one day in the year, a symbolic observance, but we need to build something solid from it too.

After this evening there will be plans.

Artists and cultural workers -- unite!

Great idea...it's always difficult to get persons to support the Arts in this country.
We seem to think it's a hobby and not a real job, and that artists do it to pass the time.
However, many will pay big dollars to see some rapper that they saw on MTV whose only talent is that he's surrounded by a good PR team.
PEOPLE, let's support our people before we are no longer a people!
The grass is NOT greener on the other side. It might just look that way because it's full of chemicals and hormones...
