@Lindsay.
"Mr Minnis lost my respect completely after that flippant remark." Just curious about which remark you are referring to. Are you referring to what I actually wrote, or are you talking about Nicolette's summary of what I wrote. The two are related, yes, but they are separate things. Summary tends to reduce context.

Please take some time to check out my essay for yourself. It is also available in an <a href="http://www.bahamapundit.com/2010/01/an-abridged-critique-of-nicolette-bethels-2009-day-of-absence.html" rel="nofollow">abridged version</a> for busy people and their plumbers. And who isn't busy these days.

If you still don't respect me afterwards, that's still cool.

@Nico
"If you buy Ward’s argument, no need to read any further." -- Nico, you know that this isn't the point. My critique was not meant to represent a full stop, end of discussion. It was intended as a springboard to more discussion and debate.

It is not a question of simply "Day of Absence or not," the real issue is what is BEST for the artistic community. The point is that it should be up to the community to decide whether they want the Day of Absence in its present form or a modified version of it.

This "me and my house" stuff only serves to polarize things and makes it about something other than the ideas.

As part of the force that held the COB demonstration, I actually can't believe that someone said that the fact that YOU are seeking some form of nepotism from this thing by using your father's birth date. Who the hell else are you, of all people, supposed to use as your inspiration? A random plumber?

Bunch of foolishness with that last point. Mr Minnis lost my respect completely after that flippant remark.
