I had the priveldege to attend the concert Saturday night! I used to work in the Bahamas and became an instant fan of the Bahamian music, especially Ronnie and Sweet Emily. My husband (Bahamian) were home visiting family last week and I was elated when I saw the promotions for Ronnie Butler week. Fortunately, a friend invited me to the event and I was pleasantly suprised to be in VIP, front row table to watch the performances. I have returned back to the states, but I hear that my interview with ZNS made the cut! Ronnie sings of love, harmony, and national pride. One of the most memorable nights of my life, except the marriage to my husband, incidently our song is "Oh, look wha ya do to me"!

'Brits (who remain subjects, and not citizens, in their own land, by the way)'

Not wishing to derail the discussion, but I've always been puzzled by this meme — it certainly says 'British Citizen' on my passport — so I checked, and apparently I haven't been a subject since 1983. Before that I was apparently both a subject and a citizen. I can't say the precise legal terminology has ever seemed that important.

Nico, freedom of speech is a basic human right. Any law that denies this right to a civil servant is a bad law. We should all raise our voices and demand reform.
In hope.

The issue is the information that Mr. Bell shared after he left office.

Information that should have been made public as a matter of course.

How many other Ministries/Departments share the same fate?

Surely that is something to be taken up with the Ministry of National Security or the Commissioner of Police, not with Mr. Bell alone.

Continuing to focus your comments on him seems to be missing the point, somehow.

General Orders or not, I can't see how or why matters of national importance like the statistics released by the former prosecutor (Mr. Bell) recently should be brushed under the carpet.

Nicolette, these are some right on words, sister. For shame on all the government administrations which have failed us in this way to date. I am angry too. Indeed, where are our institutions, promenades and parks, where are the expressions of the best of who we are? We need a nationwide, grassroot voter boycott of any and all electoral candidates whose platform doesn't include these cultural reforms.
In hope.
